BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Al "Buzz" Preston has a total of seventeen years of full time coaching experience. Additionally, he has served three (3) years as a graduate assistant: University of Washington (1 yr.), and the University of Hawaii (2 yrs.). Al has also completed two NFL summer internships, one with Miami (1996), the other with Tampa Bay (1995), and one summer guest coach position with the Toronto Argonauts. After completing his graduate assistant coaching tenure, Al spent three years at Southern Illinois University, coaching defensive backs; he also served as defensive coordinator for the Junior Varsity program. In 1987, he returned to the University of Hawaii and held a number of positions of increasing responsbility which included: special teams, receivers, defensive backs, strength and conditioning coordinator, and film equipment coordinator. From 1999 to 1998, Al coached running backs at Washington State (Rose Bowl 1998). For the 1998 season, he was assistant head coach and offensive coordinator for quarterbacks at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. The past four years Buzz coached running backs at Stanford University.PERSONAL PROFILE:
Buzz Preston makes a very good first impression. He is friendly, courteous, out-going, and very positive in his dealings with people. He places great emphasis on being able to communicate and relate to people at many levels, including student athletes, fellow coaches, administrators and parents. He has worked on both sides of the ball for some solid football programs. Additionally, his exposure at the professional level in intern programs has added to his overall experience in the field. Al has the reputation of beling a good organizer and has the ability to motivate his players to play to their potential. He should be considered a strong candidate for a head position in Division I-A and also as an offensive coordinator in the NFL.COACHING ASSOCIATIONS:
